Kart brakes commonly come in 3 types; mechanical, hydraulic and hydraulic with self-adjustment. The latter is most similar to a car system.
Mechanical and non self-adjusting hydraulic brakes usually require adjustment by the use of shims.
Non self-adjusting systems do not have a reservoir on the master cylinder and you will need a special bleed tool when servicing them
