Having been the IAME Sirio importer for 3 years, the family wanted the latest model from the Italian factory but were denied it; Jim in his own stubborn way walked out out of the IAME factory and said 'We'll do it ourselves'
At the time Rotax had just taken the market by storm with their first 100cc Kart engine so Jim and Tony used this for inspiration and the Solo engine was born. Made in Britain but using many Italian components sourced from the same factories as the leading brands.
As time went on the engines evolved and, like the Karts, achieved CIK homologation and huge success.
